Victoria Beckham ‘jets to £1,000 a night spa retreat’ after fashion brand suffered £12million loss

Victoria Beckham has reportedly jetted to a £1,000 a night spa retreat to ‘perk up and realign’ after a difficult few months which saw her fashion brand lose £12 million.

According to The Sun on Saturday, The Spice Girl, 45, has travelled to the retreat to ensure she is in tip-top shape for husband David’s Inter Miami football club launch and treat herself with luxury treatments and clean food.

A source told the website: ‘Victoria has had a stressful few months and decided to take herself away for a few days to perk-up, and realign.

‘She can have some amazing pampering treatments, and eat incredibly cleanly — she wants to detox after a few fun boozy nights out of late.

‘Victoria also felt she deserved a treat after all her hard work at London Fashion Week and having just made three top executive appointments for her company. And, of course, she wants to be tip-top for David’s Inter Miami launch.’

MailOnline has contacted Victoria’s representatives for comment.

In November 2019 it was revealed Victoria fashion business has plunged almost £36 million into the red after making losses of £12.5 million in 2018, after new figures were released.

At the time, the star’s company Victoria Beckham Holdings Limited filed accounts for 2018 which showed she has failed to turn round the troubled fashion empire.

It has now made losses for every year since 2013.

Victoria’s high-end clothes are sold in stores around the world but struggling sales and high costs have seen losses grow in each of the past four years.

A source told MailOnline that Victoria’s business is still in a  ‘good place’, despute the figures.

The Beckhams’ businesses made their first combined loss in 2018 as they were dragged down by Victoria’s ailing fashion brand.

Between them, the couple lost £1.5 million after tax, a marked decline on their £31 million profit of four years ago.

But despite the downturn, David and Victoria still paid themselves more than £7 million in dividends last year, meaning they took £51 million out of the businesses in dividends since 2014.

The mother-of-four’s fashion label has lost £34.7 million since it launched ten years ago, and has been repeatedly bailed out by her husband.

In previous years, the family still made a healthy profit thanks to David’s image rights but his business, DB Ventures, also suffered last year. Profits have fallen from £44million four years ago to less than £15 million in 2018.

In December, it was reported that Victoria had been forced to make dramatic cuts after her eponymous fashion label plunged £36 million in debt.

The designer is said to have been told she can no longer employ a chauffeur to drive her to work and even offered to take a pay cut to help her struggling business.

It comes after Victoria’s brand fell almost £36million into the red after making losses of £12.5 million last year.

A source told The Sun: ‘Things are going from bad to worse for poor Posh.

‘The chauffeur has gone, she’s now driving herself or getting Addison Lees, and the designer plants are on the way out as their upkeep is too dear.

‘Victoria is gutted but she’s put everything into her fashion empire and won’t give up without a fight.’

According to the insider, Posh will now have to drive herself to work at her Hammersmith headquarters or to her store in Dover Street, Mayfair or get a taxi.

She is also said to have agreed to stop purchasing expensive plants and plant pots for her headquarters.

This comes as profits from her husband David’s company DB Ventures halved over the span of a year, from £23.2 million in 2017 to £11.5 million in 2018.

David is thought to have lent his wife Victoria some £600,000 for her Victoria Beckham Ltd business, after he bailed out his wife’s company with a £23 million cash injection in January 2019.

But it’s not all woe: the couple were ranked 372 on this year’s Sunday Times Rich List, with a combined wealth of some £355 million and were named among Britain’s 50 biggest taxpayers in The Sunday Times Tax List.

David has endorsement arrangements with brands including Pepsi, Samsung, H&M, Haig whisky and Adidas which give him a cut of rising sales.

The sportsman is currently in the US, preparing for the debut of his football team Inter Miami later this week.
