Model Tegan Martin reveals she missed out on jobs as she wasn’t curvy enough

‘I’ve missed out on jobs because I wasn’t curvy enough’: Model Tegan Martin reveals she’s ‘definitely felt pressure to be a certain size’ to get work in the fashion industry

Tegan Martin has revealed that she’s been knocked back for jobs for having too lean a physique.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph on Sunday, the former Miss Universe Australia says at times she was ‘not curvy enough’ for certain clients.

The 27-year-old says: ‘I’ve even had experiences where the reason that I missed out on a job was because I wasn’t curvy enough.

‘But I love these moments because they teach you that you will never be everyone’s cup of tea and that is okay,’ she added.

The model says there is now a body positivity movement in the once notoriously stick-thin fashion industry.

Tegan, who appears in the latest Bras N Things campaign, says:  ‘Throughout my career, I’ve definitely felt pressure to be a certain size.

‘But thankfully, the industry has changed a lot since I started 10 years ago. The days of needing to be waif-thin are well and truly over’.

Earlier this month, the former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia contestant revealed she’s dating financier Luke Andrews.

In an interview with Who magazine, Tegan hinted it’s already serious despite the pair only having dated for six months.

‘I do feel that he’s someone I could spend the rest of my life with,’ she told the publication. ‘He’s really, really beautiful – I’m very happy.’

The former Miss Universe Australia said she first met Luke years ago while they were both overseas, and they ‘reconnected last year’.

‘It’s grounding for me, having someone I come home to that has no idea what goes on in my world,’ she explained.
