Man in 20s is fatally stabbed on a street in North London bringing capital’s 2020 murder toll to 17 – after police name two other knife victims

  • Scotland Yard were called to Parson Street in Hendon, Barnet, at 9pm Saturday 
  • No arrests have yet been made but ‘urgent enquiries’ were ongoing, police said

A man in his twenties has been stabbed to death in North London during another night of violence in the capital.

Scotland Yard were called to Parson Street in Hendon, Barnet, at 9pm Saturday, where a police cordon remained overnight. 

Forensic teams in protective suits and face masks were pictured combing the scene, including a parked silver car. 

No arrests have been made but ‘urgent enquiries’ were ongoing, police said.   

He is the 17th person to be killed in the city this year and his death comes as two suspected murder victims were named.

Li-Qing Wang, 35, was found dead, believed to have suffered knife wounds, at a home on Magnolia Close in Leyton, East London, Tuesday morning.

Yi Xing Song, 53, of Magnolia Close, has been charged with murder and remains in custody before his appearance at the Old Bailey tomorrow.

Detective Inspector Olly Clark, said in the wake of the Tuesday tragedy: ‘At this very early stage we are treating this as a domestic-related incident and believe the parties were known to each other. We are not seeking further suspects.

‘A man was arrested at the scene and officers will be working hard to establish the exact sequence of events which led to this woman losing her life.’

Meanwhile police have made no arrests for the ‘brutal and frenzied’ murder of Tyler Royce, 24, who was fatally stabbed in the early hours of Wednesday.

Officers were called to Stroud Green Way, Croydon, by London Ambulance Service crews just after midnight after finding the victim with blade injuries.

Mr Roye was treated at the scene but died on arrival at hospital shortly before 3am. 

Detectives have now ramped up their murder investigation and launched a public appeal for information. 

Detective Chief Inspector John Massey, who leads the investigation said: ‘I want to hear from anyone who saw, heard or recorded anything in the Stroud Green Way area before, during or after the murder.

‘This was a brutal and frenzied attack that has ended a young man’s life. If you saw anything, but have not yet come forward, please do get in touch.’
