Every week we give the low-down on the value of forgotten treasures that may be gathering dust at home.

Music lovers who collect posters of live gigs may find their value is now far more than the price of the concert ticket.

A billboard announcing ‘The Fabulous Beatles’ when they played at Barnston Women’s Institute in Wirral in 1962 – with tickets costing seven shillings and six pence (37.5p) – went under the hammer for £3,600 three months ago.

Those with a poster of the 1965 The Animals gig held at the Locarno Ballroom in Basildon, Essex, have a £200 find. And a flier for The Kinks at Bridlington Spa Hall, South Yorkshire, from 1965 – that cost ten shillings (50p) to attend – is now worth £500.

Posters for early concerts of more modern bands are also in high demand. A 1979 poster featuring Joy Division at The Factory sold for £3,600 last December.
