Prince Harry ‘booked out entire first class train carriage’ from Edinburgh to London to return home after attending eco-conference

Prince Harry and his bodyguards had an entire First Class train carriage to themselves after his eco-conference in Edinburgh.
Such behaviour – on the LNER train to King’s Cross on Wednesday night – stands in stark contrast to that of other royals who go by train on official engagements.
Earlier this month, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge travelled to and from a visit to the new Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre near Loughborough, Leicestershire, alongside other commuters.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall also occasionally travel by train, taking their seats with other paying customers.
The Queen is, however, afforded a small First Class carriage to herself when travelling by train to Sandringham, given her status as the reigning monarch.
Last night Buckingham Palace declined to comment on Harry’s travel arrangements – but sources insisted that he regularly travelled by train with other commuters.
Harry had been attending a ‘working summit’ for his new Travalyst partnership, which is working with leading industry figures to make it easier for customers to find greener ways to travel.

The initiative has been widely welcomed – but follows heavy criticism aimed at the prince for his use of private jets.
Over the summer he was known to have taken at least three return flights on private planes in a matter of weeks. The trips included a weekend away at Sir Elton John’s mansion in the south of France.
He did, however, take a scheduled flight from Canada to come to this week’s summit. In a nod to the Sussexes’ impending ‘Megxit’ from official royal duties, he told delegates concerned about how to address him to ‘just call me Harry’.
The prince will now remain in the UK for a string of public engagements.
