From recycled bags to dayglo delights… the eight looks we’re lusting after

  • FEMAIL suggest the eight best looks of the season, including vinyl trenchcoats
  • Mini handbags are on trend even if they’re not the most practical investment
  • Chunky gold rings were all over Givenchy catwalks and have hit the high street

1 DINKY BAGS

Good things come in small packages. Mini handbags might not be the most practical investment, but they’re perfect if you only need to carry a phone and lipstick.

Plus, they’ll instantly update any outfit. Here are two of our favourites from the great designs landing this spring.

2 LORD OF THE RINGS

Signet rings have always been a sign of wealth and status — although Del Boy was a fan, too. But chunky gold rings were all over the catwalks of Givenchy and J.W. Anderson, and have spilled onto the High Street.

3 LOVE LACROIX?

London-based label Rixo has raided the archives of Parisian fashion house Christian Lacroix and reimagined its designer’s most iconic prints for its new collection, including on this polka dot dress (£425, rixo.co.uk) and top (£265).

Expect puff-sleeved dresses, 1960s-inspired mini-skirt suits and ruffles aplenty.

4 JOIN THE CHAIN GANG

Online retailer Net-a-Porter has reported that searches for chain jewellery have increased by 130 per cent — and we’re not surprised.

Since designer brand of the moment Bottega Veneta dressed models in jewellery Mr T would be proud of, the fashion world has been accessorising accordingly.

Get the look with this chain bracelet (£110, missoma.com).

5 OLD FOR NEW

Thanks to fashion’s eco push, Mulberry has launched a secondhand initiative. Trade in your old bag at a participating store for credit to spend on a new one, or take it in to get it restored.

6 NEW-WAVE NEON

It’s time to turn your back on understated navy, black and grey, and embrace acid brights.

If the catwalks of Valentino, Versace and Balmain are anything to go by, minimalism is out and Day-Glo colours are most definitely in.

Struggling to see how this will work in your everyday wardrobe? If you’re not ready to invest in a green neon summer dress, like Essentiel Antwerp’s fabulous bow design (£215, essentielantwerp.com), look for knits, tailored trousers or eye-catching accessories.

7 HIP TO BE SQUARE

Love them or loathe them, the 1990s classic square-toed sandal is back with a vengeance.

They are everywhere on the High Street — just in time for you to treat yourself and start praying for sunshine.

8 TIME TO SHINE

Vinyl has entered the mainstream, and it’s now entirely acceptable to be seen in a high-shine trench at the school gates/office/swanky dinner (delete as applicable).

One star buy is this blue version from Topshop (£79, topshop.com). Zara and & Other Stories also have a selection of laminated looks to choose from.
