Now coronavirus reaches BRAZIL: 61-year-old tests positive for the deadly infection after returning from Italy in South America’s first case
Brazil has become the latest country to confirm a case of the killer coronavirus that is rapidly sweeping the world.
A Government source claimed an unidentified 61-year-old who visited Italy tested positive after returning to Sao Paulo.
Brazil’s government has yet to officially announce the case of COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus.
An official confirmed the case with news agency Reuters, saying the test results will be announced at a press conference later today.
The man is thought to have travelled to Lombardy – the region at the heart of Italy’s coronavirus crisis – and returned to Brazil on February 21.
Health chiefs say he developed symptoms including a sore throat and fever – tell-tale signs of the disease. He is the first confirmed case in South America.
