It’s mine! Hilarious moment owl ‘delivering a letter’ refuses to let go of the post when a woman opens the window to retrieve it

  • Clip shared by ornithologist Nika Zubra captures Eurasian eagle-owl deliver post
  • When she approaches window to take letter in Moscow, Russia he will not let go
  • Ms Zubra offers owl ‘face of a mouse’ and a fox toy in attempt to grab the letter

A determined owl who was ‘delivering a letter’ sparked a hilarious game of tug of war when he refused to give up the post.

In a clip, filmed by ornithologist Nika Zubra, the Eurasian eagle-owl is seen waiting outside the window of a room with a letter held in its beak.

But when Ms Zubra attempts to take the post from the owl, it refuses to release the paper and fixes her a very severe stare in Moscow, Russia.

Ms Zubra, who keeps owls in nurseries, then tries to gently tug the letter from the owl’s beak while asking ‘give it to me!’

But the Eurasian eagle-owl – believed to be named Yollka – stubbornly clings on to the paper.

Ms Zubra then asks the owl if it ‘needs her ID’ as the hilarious game of tug of war continues through the open window.

The ornithologist goes on to offer Yollka ‘the face of a mouse’ and a small, plush fox toy in an attempt to get it to drop the letter.

The owl has other ideas, however, and continues to cling to the paper.

‘Is there spam?’, Ms Zubra asks after catching a glimpse of the front of the letter. ‘So you brought me spam and do not want to give it to me?’

Eventually, Yollka relents, and allows the post to be pulled from its beak.

Ms Zubra then closes the window as the owl stands on the ledge outside as the clip comes to an end.
