Harry Potter fans will be able to explore the Slytherin common room at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour

Harry Potter fans will soon be able to explore the Slytherin common room set for the first time ever on London’s Warner Bros Studio Tour

  • Set will be on show with costumes and props belonging to Slytherin characters
  • These include Slytherin house banners suspended from the ceiling
  • Costumes charting Voldemort’s transformation into a villain will also be on show

From April, for the first time ever, visitors to Warner Bros. Studio Tour London will be able to discover the Slytherin common room.

A 25ft-high section of the iconic set from the blockbuster Harry Potter movies will be on display, with fans let in on the secrets behind some of the iconic costumes and props belonging to their favourite, cunning Slytherin characters. No polyjuice potion required.

For the first time ever, fans are invited to gather around the imposing fireplace and sofas where Ron’s magical transformation began to wear off, revealing his ginger hair.

When envisioning the Slytherin common room, production designer Stuart Craig wanted a very different atmosphere to the warm colours of Gryffindor – after all, Slytherin has links to dark magic – so designed the set to look like a dungeon carved out of solid rock.

The hand-designed wall tapestries visitors will see had red tones completely taken out of the colour palette to add to the austere atmosphere and further highlight the iconic Slytherin colours of green and silver.

The Great Hall, meanwhile, will be given a Slytherin makeover, with visitors greeted by a sea of green as they enter.

The Slytherin house banners from the film series will be suspended from the enchanted ceiling, denoting a Slytherin House Cup victory.

Gryffindor banners will be displayed over the teachers’ table, in reference to the final scenes of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, in which Dumbledore awards last-minute house points that result in a Gryffindor triumph.
