The Strokes announce new album ‘The New Abnormal’ and UK show at Camden Roundhouse

The Strokes have announced the release date for their forthcoming album, The New Abnormal, while performing at a Bernie Sanders rally in Durham, New Hampshire.

The rock band, who also debuted new songs “Bad Decisions” and “At the Door”, revealed the nine-track album will be released on 10 April.

During the performance, the band also covered “Burning Down the House” by Talking Heads and their tracks “Someday”, “Hard to Explain” and “New York City Cops”.

In a statement announcing the concert, frontman Julian Casablancas said: “We are honoured to be associated with such a dedicated, diligent and trustworthy patriot – and fellow native New Yorker.

“As the only truly non-corporate candidate, Bernie Sanders represents our only chance to overthrow corporate power and help return America to democracy. This is why we support him.”

A number of high-profile artists have performed at rallies for Sanders in recent months.

On 31 January, Bon Iver played a rally in Clive, Iowa; Vampire Weekend performed the following evening at a rally in Cedar Rapids.

The Strokes released their last album, Comedown Machine, in 2013. They will perform at London’s Camden Roundhouse next Wednesday (February 19) and headline NOS Alive festival in Portugal this summer.
