Jimin: BTS star’s solo single ‘Promise’ hits 200m SoundCloud streams

The solo track from BTS star Jimin has become the fifth most-streamed song of all time on SoundCloud.

Jimin’s single, titled “Promise”, broke records upon its release in December 2018 by beating Drake to become the the biggest-ever debut for a song on the music platform.

Drake’s “Duddy Freestyle” was streamed 4.9m times in its first 24 hours compared to Jimin’s 8.5m for “Promise”.

It’s now been streamed more than 200m times.

The K-pop singer co-wrote the track with fellow BTS member RM with the backing co-composed with Slow Rabbit.

BTS have returned from their extended break and performed at this year’s Grammy Awards with Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus, who won a trophy for “Old Town Road”.

“The Grammy Awards stage is every artist’s dream, and we are so thankful for and happy at the fact that we even reached this dream,” the band said in a statement following the ceremony.

“Thank you to the ARMYs who allowed us to be here in this spot.”

BTS will drop their new record Map of the Soul: 7 later this tear and will embark on a world tour, which kicks off in April.
